Renewable Forest Products Inc. is one of the largest logging companies operating in Northwestern Ontario and is presently seeking candidates for the following position:

Worksite Supervisor Logging

PRIMARY LOCATION: Thunder Bay / Northwestern Ontario

Your challenges:

As a supervisor you will act as a key change agent providing support and direction for the crew by performing the following duties:

  • Provide Operations Management & Supervisory tasks and resolve Health & Safety issues.
  • Coordinate the crews for RFP Woodlands operations.

Reporting to the Company President, with an indirect reporting line to the Manager of Operations, you will be part of a dynamic team to which you will contribute vital skills.

Your profile:

  • 3 to 5 years relevant experience years’ experience in woodlands related jobs.
  • skidder, grapple or construction or related field an asset.
  • previous supervisory skills preferred but will train.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, to communicate (oral and written) with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change.
  • Solid analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on experience and judgment.
  • Understanding of federal and provincial employment and safety laws.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong facilitation and issue resolution skills.
  • basic computer skills.
  • previous fire crew leadership or forestry tech experience, construction leadership or logging operations experience with GPS/mapping a must.
  • physical fitness to map new logging roads/construction a must (walking long distances)
  • Class G driver’s license in good standing; able to commute (drive logging roads/radio use and adherence to safety concepts) drive to forestry site

Salary commiserated with experience. $50 000 to $75 000 per year

Education:

Logging/Skidder operations certificate, supervisory training or willingness to learn.

Experience:

  • Previous experience: 1 year (preferred) – Good Promotion prospects

Work Location: In person/ able to drive to worksite 1.5 hours drive outside city limits – work truck or personal truck allowance negotiable.
