Renewable Forest Products/Remar Transport is one of Northwestern Ontario’s largest logging companies.

We are looking for 2 full time Chip/Biomass and/or Roundwood (logs) truck drivers to join our team. Going to school and obtaining a Class AZ license eligibility is a must. – You currently must hold a G license in good standing and be able to produce a drivers abstract to confirm that.  You must be age 25 or older for commercial insurance purposes.  You must be legally able to work in Ontario.  You must be able to commit to 2 years of work with us.  You must successfully complete a driver’s medical examination prior to starting the program – we can assist with booking the appointment and some of the costs associated with the exam. You must be able to start schooling on November 20, 2023, and complete the in classroom training for approximately 6 weeks followed by three months of in truck training with a mentor trainer for working independently early April 2024 with us.

To be accepted into the program, the person will need to submit their valid G drivers license, a clean drivers abstract with no major infractions and an AZ medical. This driver training program is specific to Forestry roads and has 3 components; AZ licensing, classroom training related to forestry roads and a mentorship with an experienced driver. Interviews will be held in the later part of October and offer letters will be given to the two successful persons no later than Nov. 8, 2023. An open house at Confederation College, Northwest Ontario Works office  will be held on Oct 4, 2023 from 10 to 12:30 pm for more information.

The driver will take the unpaid in-classroom schooling and upon successful completion of the program will be hired by RFP or our sister company Remar Transport. The hourly wage is $33.11 per hour.  It is an average of 42 hours per week with overtime as production goals demand. We work Monday to Friday with weekends off, on 2 shifts from 4 to 4.  One week the driver will work from 4 am to 4pm with the next week’s rotation starting at 4 pm.  Full information will be provided at the interview. Our drivers haul chips or biomass to production locations near Thunder Bay. Working in a safe manner while maintaining punctual attendance is a must. Skills needed are safe driving on logging roads often with a manual transmission, problem solving, proper scan and load techniques, collaboration with work crews, adherence to production timelines, and strong organizational skills.

This job is permanent, year-round stable work.

Loading Worksite is outside Thunder Bay city limits, Monday to Friday shifts. Schedules allow weekends off work.. Driver’s abstract can be provided at job interview meeting.
